Teachers Wanted

Wells-Ogunquit Adult Community Education is seeking instructors for the following classes to begin Summer 2013 and Fall 2013:

English as a Second Language: Multi-level classes mornings and/or evenings (4-8 hours a week).

Reading and Writing Instructor: Two mornings and/or two evenings a week.

Math Instructor: One morning and/or one evening a week to teach basic math skills through pre-algebra.

All positions require a minimum of a bachelor's degree. Instructors must meet State of Maine Adult Education certification requirements. Previous experience in adult education is preferred. Parents as Scholars (PaS) can help with:

A monthly cash benefit

Transportation reimbursement
Books
Car repairs

Parents in PaS may be eligible for federal PELL grants to cover some, if not all, of their tuition costs. However, PaS may also be able to help.

High School Completion/GED

If you left high school without a diploma, there are two ways you can earn one now—a high school credit or GED diploma. For a quick look at GED requirements click here. Visit the GED official website for complete information including videos. It’s never too late and it’s free. You may be more prepared than you think. Forty-one adults received a diploma in the last 3 years -- be part of the class of 2013! Graduation is June 17, 2013. Make this year Your Year to Graduate. Call 646-4565 and make an appointment.

Additional testing times may be available if needed to fit your schedule.

You must meet age requirements for both the diploma and GED Test programs.

Prevent Class Cancellations!

Registered in a class and not sure if it's going to run due to low enrollment?

Give us a call to see how many registrations are needed and then go to work! Talk it up to friends; co-workers; relatives; other members of a group you belong to. You can make a difference and avoid your own disappointment and others' when a class you really wanted to take gets cancelled.

If you and a group of your friends have an interest in a class you've seen in our brochure with a timeframe that doesn't work out, let us know of your interest and we will let you know if it is possible to create a new class and explain what it will take to do it.

REMEMBER:

A minimum number of participants is required for all classes

The decision to cancel a class must be made 2 business days before it starts (unless noted otherwise). If the minimum number hasn't been met - we have no choice but to cancel.
